Molecular Cancer Biology

Cancer is a collection of diseases characterized by abnormal and uncontrolled cell growth caused by genetic mutations (Martínez-Jiménez et al., 2020). It causes the death of more than 8 million people worldwide every year. With this balance sheet, it ranks second in the list of fatal diseases (The, of Whole & Nature, 2020). Cancer is unlimited proliferation. In multicellular organisms, cells stop dividing when organs reach the appropriate size, but cancerous cells continue to divide. Cancerous cells have high adaptive abilities to survive. They act on the cells surrounding them, destroying them and creating space for their own accelerated proliferation and growth (Tripathy, Pradhan & Development, 2020).

In our department, detailed studies are carried out using cell culture techniques to investigate the effects of chemotherapy agents and components with potential anticancer effects on various cancer cells.
