Program Objectives

Dear university candidates,
 
Trakya University Genetics and Bioengineering Department was opened in 2014 and accepted its first undergraduate students in the 2015-2016 Academic Year. The concrete objectives of our training program can be summarized as follows:

1.The aim of Genetics and Bioengineering Undergraduate Program is; educated in basic medical sciences and technology used in agriculture and engineering sciences, having technical and basic knowledge in the field of genetics, bioengineering and biotechnology, producing creative solutions and taking a leadership role in domestic or international academic, industrial and official institutions as a pioneer in practice, To train genetic engineers and bioengineers who are aware of their professional responsibilities and can establish a bridge between medicine, biology, agricultural sciences and engineering sciences.

2.Employment opportunities in the field of genetics and bioengineering, one of the fastest developing branches of science in recent years, are increasing all over the world in parallel with the progress of the field. In this context, the European Union's engineering and technology are likely candidates to be heard in the new century according to the extent of genetic engineering engineer and a strongly growing need for bioengineers in Turkey. Trakya University Genetics and Bioengineering Department will train genetic engineers and bioengineers with strong professional formation, broad horizons, conscious of local and global problems, sensitive to ethical values ​​and social responsibility issues.
 
 Program objectives;
 
1.In line with the researches conducted, producers unions, industrial organizations, governorship, ministries related to health, environment, agriculture and food, other universities and international organizations operating in the region, especially in planning and developing in the triangle of human, modern production practices and the environment. Working with partners and stakeholders and producing joint projects,
2.To train engineers equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills, who can work together with other engineering branches, are aware of their professional and ethical responsibilities, and have international communication and competence,
3.Ethical, honest and hardworking individuals who have a good analytical and observational skills, have learned the principles and applications of more specific disciplines of basic and applied sciences, and are able to coordinate and synthesize between disciplines using these principles, produce projects and thus easily adapt to the developments in their profession and the world of science. raise,
4.To train engineers specialized in plant breeding and genetics, which our country desperately needs, by implementing a modern education program based on scientific principles that focuses on plant genetics, classical and biotechnological breeding methods and seed technology in addition to engineering fundamentals,
5.To train engineers who have the ability to apply theoretical knowledge about their profession as well as applying this knowledge into practice by applying an application-oriented curriculum,
6.To raise self-confident individuals who have developed social aspects, communication skills, creativity and entrepreneurship, can use initiative,
7.To gain the ability to identify, formulate, model, analyze and solve genetic and bioengineering problems, plan and carry out research when necessary, and analyze and interpret the results,
8.Preparing to take on roles as a leader and member of multi-disciplinary teams in organizations where the profession of genetics and bioengineering is applied,
9.To enable students to perceive the importance of graduate and lifelong learning and to prepare students for these teaching by providing a strong engineering background.

Students who will graduate from our department;

1.Having advanced knowledge and culture in the field of mathematics, science and bioengineering,
2.Identifying and defining engineering problems in Genetics and Bioengineering, interpreting and solving using the most up-to-date techniques and tools,
3. Good general and professional English knowledge,
4.Having basic and applied knowledge of genetics and bioengineering and the ability to apply in the subjects, designing and conducting experiments independently, collecting data and interpreting the results,
5.Able to design a biological system, process or process with modern techniques to meet the desired requirements / products,
6.Having the ability to make independent decisions, use initiative and creativity, and work efficiently in interdisciplinary teams,
7.Being able to produce new, original and creative proposals and projects by having the capacity of researcher, producer and entrepreneur,
